Background:

Procter&Gamble, one of the biggest and the first multinational company of the FMCG sector in the world, offered professionally challenging positions for several fresh graduates in Hungary. The program for equal opportunities is a very important business strategy for P&G, and the company has unique experience and methods in this area, which can be utilized in both the governmental and the economic sector in our region.
In Hungary, very important projects were realized through the sponsorship of Procter&Gamble:

Women in political decision making

In frame of the cooperation with the Association for Women's Career Development in Hungary Dr. Katalin Koncz’s book titled “Women in Politics – an Overview 1990-2006” was published and the Conference `Women in Political Decision Making` was organized by AWCDH and the Ministry of Labour in December 2006 with the participation of 550 persons.

Women in economic decision making

Ms Kitti Dobi, Manager for Structural Development and Equal Opportunities of Procter&Gamble in Southern and Central Europe in 2007, then Ms Boglárka Szentpétery, in 2008, have been invited as an expert to the working group of `Women in Economic Decision Making` launched by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in order to implement the objectives of the Roadmap for the equality of women issued by the European Commission for the period of 2006-2010 in Hungary as well.

Best Workplace for Women Award

The 170-year-old Procter&Gamble, which has exemplary experience in the area of the employment of women, cooperated in issuing a call for the competition for the Best Workplace for Women Award in 2007 and cooperates with the association in the competition for the “Best Workplace for Women- 2008’ launched on 17 October 2008.

„Women and Career in the XXIst Century” Road show at Hungarian universities

Continuing its university programs started in 2004 and supporting the objectives of `2007-Equal Opportunities for All European Year` announced by the European Commission, Procter&Gamble started a partnership program with Hungarian universities in order to give information on equal opportunity issues and career opportunities in cooperation with AWCDH.

The outcome of the event:

  • Drew attention to the challenges and requirements fresh graduates have to face in order to harmonize work/career and private life successfully
  • Information on the experience of P&G and available jobs at Procter&Gamble – in harmony with equal opportunity issues
  • The invited guests, women in leading positions in business, politics, public administration and non-profit organizations, give their own examples, based on their own experiences and through this encourage the young women to go for a successful career and private life.
